Guy Pearce has spoken about his time working with Kevin Spacey, saying the actor was “handsy” on the set of L.A. Confidential.

The Australian actor vaguely spoke to his experience with his co-star, who has been accused of multiple instances of sexual misconduct and abuse, on Andrew Denton’s Interview on Tuesday.

Pearce worked with Spacey on the Curtis Hanson-directed 1997 crime noir L.A. Confidential. When Denton brought up Spacey during the interview, Pearce said it was a “tough one to talk about at the moment,” but still responded.

“Amazing actor, incredible actor,” he said. “Slightly difficult time with Kevin … He’s a handsy guy.”

“Thankfully I was 29 and not 14,” he added.

The initial allegations against Spacey began in October 2017, when he was accused of sexual misconduct by Star Trek: Discovery and Rent actor Anthony Rapp, who publicly claimed Spacey made a “sexual advance” toward him as a teenager in 1986.

Spacey addressed the accusations, saying that he did not remember the incident, but if it did happen, he “owes [Rapp] the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.” In that same Twitter message, Spacey came out as gay, leading many to criticize him for trying to divert attention from the assault allegation.

On Tuesday, London police confirmed three new sexual assault allegations made against Spacey. These claims come three months after Los Angeles County prosecutors also confirmed they were reviewing a sexual assault case against the actor.
